Below are several types of windows, common to most households. Count how many of each type are in your home. The more accurate your count, the more accurate the estimate will be. Each window type is identified with a number above it. At the bottom of the page is a form to contact us. In the message portion of the form, tell us how many of each window type is in your home. Also, please include how many stories your home is. You may want to print this page, or our printer friendly version, and walk around your home. Remember, an exact price can only be given in person.
Window Type 1
Single or double hung window. 2 panes of glass, one on top of the other. One or both panes may slide up and down.
Window Type 3
Picture window with 2 side panes that slide open left and right. Typically found in living rooms and master bedrooms.
Window Type 5
Casement window, also called a crank-out. One pane of glass, opens from either the left or right by turning a crank handle.
Window Type 7
Patio doors. 2 large panes of glass. Most patio doors slide open; some swing open like traditional doors.
Window type 9
French panes, also called cut-ups. In the example on the left, there are 8 panes of glass, divided by permanent frames. So, if you were counting this window, you would say "8 of type 9".

Window Type 2
Picture window. One pane of glass, fairly large, cannot be opened. No panes on either side. Typically found in living rooms and master bedrooms.

Window Type 4
Side Lite. One pane of glass. Tall, narrow, and usually on both sides of the front door.
Window Type 6
Slider window. 2 panes of glass, one or both panes slide open left or right.
Window Type 8
Geometric shapes. One pane of glass. Does not open. Can be half cirlcle, triangle, full circle, octagon, etc.
Window type 10
Everything else. Every home is different. If you have a window that doesn't fit into the other categories, count it here. Count each individual piece of glass.
